What to Pack for Italy in the Summer
What to Wear in New York City in the Summer
Jeans: Jeans are a staple of Parisian style. Choose a pair with a classic style- straight leg and medium wash. The jeans should be well-fitting and without distressing. You also want the wash to work well with most pieces in your wardrobe, so a medium wash is usually the best choice, but you could go with a little darker wash as well. This Zara pair are a great option.
Cardigan: When I think of French girl style, I think of cardigans. This piece can be a versatile part of your wardrobe- you can wear it with jeans for an elevated casual look, or dress it up with a silk skirt or over a dress. I love this option with the red trim, but you can go for a solid color also, which will make the cardigan even more versatile.
White oxford: Another staple of French girl style is the white oxford shirt. You can choose a classic fit, but also go for an oversized or cropped style as well. Pair this with blazer and a silk skirt, and you have a beautiful office look. If you remove the blazer and add a pair of strappy heels, then you have a beautiful evening look. A white oxford also goes perfectly with jeans and a pair of flats.
Blazer: In addition to a cardigan, a blazer is another must-have of the French wardrobe. For summer, you can choose a lighter linen option, but for colder seasons a darker color works well. I love a blazer with an oxford shirt and jeans, but it also looks great over a dress.
Dresses: Nothing says Parisian style like a classic dress, especially a black one. Choose a dress that fits well and is not too revealing. I love this black dress– it can be more casual with a pair of flats, but can easily be dressed up with heels. A shorter, casual dress is great as well.
Flats: Flats are the quintessential French girl shoes. Ballet flats look great with everything, but the Mary-Jane style is the perfect blend of trendy and classic. You can have fun with the color here (I love these red flats!) but black, or even navy, are great options too.
